HUMAN GRIGGS 25th Wedding Anniversary We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in August. Like most of our anniversary celebrations, it was pretty low-key. We traveled to Munising, MI to visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior. Dave surprised me with TWENTY-FIVE red roses in a beautiful vase! New Dreams For the past four years, you've been reading about Dave's involvement in a Presbyterian new church development in the Sun Prairie area. This spring, an organizing pastor was called. We made an immediate connection with Doug, his wife, Kristi, and their four children: Chloe, Josiah, Sophie, and Emma. Both of us are now involved in the leadership core for this new faith community. It reminds us of the early days of DGC (our technology consulting business). Of creating visions and mission plans. Of carving something out of a formless substance. We hope to use those skills in this new work God is doing. Old Dreams We had another important anniversary in November: 10 years of being a copreneurial couple in DGC. It's been a roller coaster ride, but we made it! We thought back to when we first became interested in being small business owners back in the 80's, exploring the purchase of a donut shop in Harlan, IA (the small town my folks lived in at the time). We thought about the days before we formed the LLC when we ran the business as a part-time venture. And we're pondering the future of DGC and other possibilities. Real Time Off We took the most time off this year since becoming self-employed, traveling to Munising, MI, Bayfield, WI, and Duluth, MN. A mini-Lake Superior Circle Tour circuit. Highlights included: a visit to the Great Lakes Aquarium, viewing the aerial lift bridge in the Duluth harbor, a boat tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, a boardwalk hike on the dunes of Big Bay on Madeline Island and a wonderful visit with Merlin & Marilyn Bradley of Hudson, WI (Dave's growing up pastor).
